Former top soldier now preaches the word of God

A former member of the Venda Defence Force (VDF) and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), Sgt-Maj Khathutshelo Mukwevho, will lead The Full Gospel Church in Sabbath (TFGC). The church was officially opened at Khubvi village on Saturday, 30 March. The church was formed by Christians from various villages who asked Pastor Mukwevho to lead them. Mukwevho was a pastor at the “Unto the Church of God Apostolic Jerusalem in Zion” at Mukula village when he was approached.

Speaking during the opening of the new church, Mukwevho said that after listening to them, he had consulted his family. “It was not a simple decision to take, as I was born in the Unto the Church of God Apostolic Jerusalem in Zion. I was raised in that church and served the Lord in different positions, until I was ordained as a pastor many years ago. But there is a time for one to take up other challenges in life,” he said.

Many pastors and bishops in the Limpopo Province, including the well-known Bishop Lungisani Khavhadi, attended the opening ceremony.

Speaking to Limpopo Mirror on Tuesday morning, one of Pastor Mukwevho’s former colleagues at both the VDF and the SANDF, Col Mphohoni, who is now a pastor at the “I am Christian Centre,” said the new church was in capable hands. “He is a natural leader and a true servant of the Lord. Even in the defence force, he was always preaching the word of God. We always hold prayer sessions together,” he said.
